|| Weight Gain, Fat fur, stimky wolf. ||
Detailed Introduction
Background || Early life and The Resistance || Lance, Aaron and Reggie lived in the same orphanage as children Due to "talent" based selection education for children of the orphanage was limited. Only one of the three, Reggie, gained a formal education. Whom after classes, did his best to teach Lance and Aaron what he had learned at school. According to Aaron, Reggie and Lance shared a close friendship growing up[citation needed] , with Reggie always being "very patient with him" but with time grew tired of Lance's "antics" During his time with The Resistance, Lance lived in The basement in one of it's many dorms. This room is later given to Cyrus under the guise of a 'storage room', likely to avoid evoking negative emotions from Cyrus. Much later, as the result of a mission gone wrong, Lance blames the death of Reggie on Xavier. The pair's location was breached during a reconnaissance mission and ported Reggie, who had suffered multiple gunshots to his abdomen, back to the basement before alerting the remainder of the team. By the time Lance, Aaron and Karin had arrived, Reggie had already passed away. The loss shook Lance deeply and blamed Xavier "both behind his back and to his face". || Remember the Flowers || After his banishment from The Resistance, Lance takes on numerous odd-jobs as a mercenary, one of which involves the transportation of Cyrus back to Resoom. He locates Cyrus in the alleyways of Tencia after being left by resistance members, presumably Aaron and Karin. Due to the scent of his blood being emitted from a bandaged head-wound. Once a thin layer of trust is established in the alleyway, Lance — using the alias "Cooper"— stashes Cyrus' bandages and leads him to his apartment via a rural capsule hotel where both stay until a freight train headed toward Resoom passes a town close to the hotel. During the wait, the pair take a brief trip to Lance's home town, Aquilla. They shop for supplies and food before returning back to the apartment, ready to depart later that evening. Whilst passing through a town around 30 minutes away from the train, Lance leaves Cyrus outside to talk to a "contact" who is supposed to aid their journey to Resoom. During which Cyrus gets into an altercation with Schmidt whom Lance promptly dispatches. Lance hauls and boards Cyrus onto the train after patching him up and spends the next few days idly chatting with Cyrus and searching for lodestars together during one of the train's stops. During this time, the pair's bond truly solidifies, and both parties grow apprehensive about their eventual separation. The pair arrive in the deserted city of Greend, the amended location of Cyrus' handover to Resoom, and share a vulnerable moment beside the transfer van. He confesses that Cyrus is the first person in a long time he has connected with whilst transporting them and admits he would abandon the plan with Cyrus, if he thought it possible. Lance exchanges the earlier stored bandages as evidence of Cyrus' status as a pristine carrier with Resoom guard Clement. Lance glances back at the van before leaving a distraught Cyrus in the van, pangs of regret and payment in-toe. After the events of act 1, Lance is assaulted by Resoom guards who were part of Clement's team. They stole his rifle and axiom, and injured his left eye and ear. After a few days he enters a bar to try drinking away the pain. This is where he encounters Artemis, who returns his axiom and offers an apology for the assault, stating that the offenders were fired. Artemis offers Lance a job at Resoom to trade information on Canto, Aaron Cosmas and The Resistance. Lance agrees to accompany Artemis to a hospital in Tencia to have his injuries treated and make a decision on the job offer. Lance gets treatment for his injuries at a hospital and stayed for a few weeks to heal. He declines Artemis' job offer, to which Artemis responds by informing Lance that he is now aware that he worked for The Resistance. He threatens Lance that if he does not come to work for Resoom, he would not leave alive. Lance reluctantly agrees to work for them, to which Artemis attaches an Arcadia Collar to his neck. After being released from the hospital, Artemis instructs Lance to follow him. They enter Artemis' car and start driving to Resoom. On the way, Lance informs Artemis that he is unaware of The Resistance's location, since he was still a recruit at the time, and they were only given coordinates to a remote area. Artemis questions why Lance's Axiom wouldn't reveal the location. Lance informs Artemis that The Resistance use frequencies to jam Axiom location functions. This information seems to be contrary to what the Axiom's Creator has told Resoom. Lance decides to sleep for the rest of the trip. Lance wakes up from Artemis activating his Arcadia Collar. He is surprised to see how Resoom looks in reality, as he was expecting it to be dreary. As they exit the car, Jasper comes to greet them. Artemis introduces Jasper to Lance, to which he responds with a sarcastic joke about dissections, not knowing that the lower level Resoom employees are unaware of the organization's nefarious actions. Artemis warns Lance that the "higher-ups" can listen to their conversations via the Arcadia Collar and will kill him if he reveals their secrets to other employees. Lance questions why Artemis is telling him about this, to which he reveals his own Arcadia Collar. Artemis accompanies Lance to his new room, informing him that he will have a roommate. After Lance returns to his room from showering, he encounters Benji, his roommate. Benji attempts to hug Lance, but he attacks Benji, leaving him injured and scared. Lance apologizes and provides first aid to Benji's injuries. He offers to buy Benji lunch and two start bonding before being interrupted by Artemis. Artemis informs Lance that he has received his first assignment, taking care of Subject 02, which includes running errands for her. Lance tells Subject 02 that he needs to go shopping before heading off to another mission off-base. She excitedly tells Lance her alias she has come up with — Vivian. Some time passes as Lance looks after Vivian while carrying out other missions. Lance encounters Cole and Sam upon his return to Resoom. He is considered a hero by Resoom's lower-level employees as they assume he is part of a group called The Fraction. The day after Cyrus and Aaron encountered the other members of The Fraction at Golden Requiem, Artemis introduces Lance to his new team and boss. Lance agrees to work for King and be part of his team. King and Lance start getting acquainted with each other, before being interrupted by Dario. He hands Lance a letter inviting him to visit Darius and revoking his authorization to return to the surface. The letter contained a metallic keycard and the date and time of the meeting, which was 5 days away. The day of the meeting arrived, and Dario escorted Lance to Darius' chamber. Darius asks Lance questions about Cyrus and informs him of their history together. After some back-and-forth Darius offers Lance freedom in exchange for Cyrus. As he leaves with Dario, he tells him that he's officially a member of The Fraction. || Personality || Lance maintains a cold, blunt, aggressive personality, likely forged from his many years of mercenary work. To those he shares an affinity with, however, he often opens up and adopts a more sarcastic, snarky but playful tone. He is extremely survival oriented and more than a little petty and hateful, but if he likes someone, he’s surprisingly tender. || Appearance || Lance is tall with a muscular build, He has some scars over his face and a larger one on his forearm, as well as one of his ears missing a small piece of it. He has yellow fur all over his body and pale yellow on his ventral area. He also has long black claws. During his appearances, he wears a black sleeveless V-shirt with black pants and a gray leg pouch in his thigh. He also wears a pair of black gloves with a single red stripe, and a slim axiom on his right wrist. Lance sometimes wears boots, and a blueish jacket that he later gave to Cyrus.
